Course Description

This course delves into the critical aspects of hazard identification and risk mitigation both inside and outside the excavator cab. Participants will learn to proactively assess their environment, communicate effectively with co-workers, and understand the potential dangers associated with power lines. The course emphasizes slope safety, teaching operators how to navigate slopes, distribute loads, and utilize hand signals for efficient communication in noisy environments.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify and communicate potential hazards within and around the excavator environment to ensure the safety of co-workers and mitigate risks before beginning workplace tasks.
2. Demonstrate knowledge and application of safety measures when operating near power lines, including understanding the dangers of contact and the proper response in case of an incident.
3. Apply slope safety techniques, including extending the boom stick, distributing loads evenly, and utilizing hand signals for effective communication, to navigate slopes safely during excavator operation.
